About this site

Welcome to Stratos on Tech! Discover the story behind this independent blog, my commitment to a reader-first experience, and the people who inspired it.

Stratos on Tech is an independent publication launched in September 2025 by Stratos Louvaris.

I write about the tech I actually run, not from the sidelines. The focus is the messy middle of building things that work: getting AI systems like RAG pipelines and MCP servers past the demo stage, self-hosting LLMs and services on my own hardware, and keeping a home network private and secure. When something breaks or a trade-off bites, I document it, that's the part most tutorials skip.

It's written for the individual builder: the sysadmin, developer, or curious tinkerer who wants the real story behind complex tech, with an emphasis on security and privacy. No hand-waving, no hype, concrete tools, real numbers, and honest notes on what didn't work.

You'll find in-depth, multi-part guides, on RAG, MCP servers, and self-hosting AI for sysadmins, alongside shorter, practical write-ups from my own homelab and home-network builds.

I created this blog so readers can enjoy my articles in a clean, distraction-free format, without themes or advertisements getting in the way.

It's built on Ghost, an excellent open-source platform, and hosted on my own server. Ghost has a fantastic community behind it, and they've done an outstanding job creating this publishing platform.

I'm also grateful to my friend Andreas, for pointing out this need with my previous blog, his feedback inspired this new version; to my dear sister Victoria, for encouraging me to write and providing valuable feedback on my posts; and to my wife, who supports me in every way possible as I take this step forward.
